In
Motion Technologies (IMT) is the first spin off company from the
Northern Territory University (NTU). IMT was setup to commercialise
over 10 years of research into axial flux motors originally developed
at the NTU.
This
research was initially based around the “Desert Rose" solar
car project, in which IMT is a major supporter. The Desert Rose
team is one of the world’s most successful solar racing teams which established
a world speed record over a 100 km distance of 107.78 km/h. IMT’s electric motor drive won the prestigious General
Motors Award for Technical Innovation after the 1993 World Solar
Challenge.
In early 2006, In Motion Technologies was aquired by Fasco Austalia.
